Instant Games Is One Year Old. Messenger Adds Livestreaming And Live Chat Feature

Facebook celebrates the first anniversary of Instant Games on Messenger.

Messenger is Facebook's way to connect people in ways like text messages, image and video sharing, and more. And Instant Games, is a feature that allows users to play casual games, straight within its News Feed and Messenger app.

It initially had 20 games in 30 markets. Fast forward a year, there are 70 games with more than 100 developers from around the world.

To celebrate the anniversary, Facebook adds livestreaming option and video chat.

"The new live streaming capability via Facebook Live makes it simple for people to play and share their experiences with those who love games on Messenger.

To get started, while playing a game, users just need to tap on the camera icon that is located at the upper-right corner of the game.

Then they can choose the audience they want to broadcast the stream to, and add a short description about it. Then, with a tap on the 'Start Live Video' button, the broadcast will be published on the users' Page or profile. The broadcast will be saved after it is complete, and just like any other Facebook posts, users can remove the video post at any time.

"Over 245 million people video chat every month on Messenger, with the option to use fun effects and capture pictures of their moments together. We’re excited to begin a test soon that will enable people to play games with each other while video chatting."

Initially the feature is tested with the game Words with Friends from Zynga. Users can add video filters, as well.

What's more, Facebook is also adding a handful of new games from some of the world’s most popular game franchises of all time
