Truth Social, the social media Donald Trump created when he was ousted from Twitter (now X), is where his megaphone relies.
In the era where AI has pretty much adopted to various media and products, the U.S. President goes forward to have his media company to team up with Perplexity to bring AI-powered search to Truth Social.
In a press release, the platform revealed that users on the browser version of Truth Social can now use Perplexity to search the internet.
"Powered by Perplexity, a software and AI company dedicated to providing direct, contextually accurate answers with transparent citations, Truth Search AI is intended to enhance the Truth Social platform and exponentially increase the amount of information available to its users."

The idea is to enhance Truth Social with smart, contextually accurate answers, powered by Perplexity.
Similar to a mini‑Google, but this feature is tailored for the platform’s audience.
To do this, Perplexity supplies the underlying technology via its Sonar API, enabling Trump Media to selectively control which sources the AI draws from. As a result, Truth Search AI frequently cites conservative‑leaning publications, along with a handful of others, curated to match the political and cultural preferences of Truth Social’s user base.
"We’re proud to partner with Perplexity to launch our public Beta testing of Truth Social AI, which will make Truth Social an even more vital element in the Patriot Economy. We plan to robustly refine and expand our search function based on user feedback as we implement a wide range of additional enhancements to the platform," said Trump Media's CEO and Chairman Devin Nunes.
"We’re excited to partner with Truth Social to bring powerful AI to an audience with important questions. Curiosity is the engine of change, and Perplexity’s AI is developed to empower curiosity by delivering direct, reliable answers with transparent citations that allow anyone to dig deeper," added Dmitry Shevelenko, Chief Business Officer at Perplexity.
According to the announcement, "the mission of Trump Media is to end Big Tech’s assault on free speech by opening up the Internet and giving people their voices back."
This is kind of ironic, since Trump is partnering with Perplexity, a company that has investors with big names in tech, like Jeff Bezos, Nvidia, and the former CEO of GitHub.
What's worth noting here, Perplexity is now dealing with issues, where many suggest that it's search engine capabilities benefit from stolen content.

Earlier this week, Cloudflare accused Perplexity of using stealth tactics, which include disguising its crawlers as legitimate browsers (like Google Chrome), rotating IPs, and ignoring robots.txt exclusion protocol websites have made to explicitly block such activity. This behavior was observed across tens of thousands of domains and involved millions of requests daily.
This can be traced back to its earlier days, where Perplexity started as a demo that scraped Twitter with fake academic accounts backed by AI-generated research proposals.
As a result of this, Perplexity has been accused of plagiarism, and has since dealt with copyright infringement.
In response to Cloudflare's accusation, Perplexity denied any wrongdoing, attributing the allegations to misunderstandings and distancing itself from certain IPs cited by Cloudflare.
