There is no reason whatsoever that suicide can be justified. The thing is, depression can be the common cause of people doing the unreasonable.
This time, a young man in a village in Sukarami District, Palembang, Indonesia, committed suicide by hanging himself by tying his neck using a curtain in the window vent of his boarding house.
And everything was broadcast live through his Instagram account.
Soon after receiving a report from the victim's friend, the police was immediately dispatched to the scene.
But they were too late.
Upon arrival at the scene, Egi Fernando was already dead.
In front of his lifeless body, a smartphone he used while live streaming has ran out of battery.
Egi's suicide was first witnessed by Nandi, Egi's friend in the anime community.
According to him, he was watching Egi's broadcast when he saw Egi doing something he never thought going to happen, in which he put a looped curtain to his neck.
Realizing this, Nandi contacted the police, and rushed to Egi''s boarding house, hoping to stop whatever Egi was thinking.
But it was unfortunate, that it was during this time that Egi hanged himself. Egi appeared motionless soon after.
"After a while, the victim's body convulsed and then it felt like foam was coming out of his mouth," he said.
When he got there, he found that local residents had crowd Egi's boarding house. It took a while later before the police arrived.
When questioned, Nandi said that he did not know for sure why Egi was desperate to end his life.
According to Nandi, Egi was a warm and cheerful person, a member of the Palembang Anime lover community.
Nandi explained that usually, Egi would share his thoughts if he has anything to say. But this time, he didn't say anything at all.
The victim's body was then evacuated by a team dispatched by the Palembang police for the post-mortem process.
Sukarami Police Chief Budi Hartono explained, from the post-mortem results, the victim died purely by hanging himself.
But because Egi's family refused to perform autopsy on Egi, the police handed the victim to his family a while later.
"So yesterday the body was handed over for burial,” said Budi.
"We don’t know the motive yet," added Budi, suggesting that the investigation is still commencing.
"We are still exploring the motive for this incident together with the Palembang Police," he said.
