Pokémon Introduces An Official Community Forums, And Trolls Came In

The Pokémon franchise is a media franchise consisting of video games, serialized cartoons and films, trading cards, countless pieces of merchandise, and various other products.

In a fictional universe where humans co-exist with creatures called Pokémon, which is a species with special powers, humans travel to explore new areas, discover and catch a specimen of each Pokémon species, train them as a team, to then battle other teams of Pokémons from others players.

The franchise was created back in 1996, and since then, it has grown to be a business worth billions of dollars that is mostly fueled by enthusiastic fans.

And this time, to embrace those fans, The Pokémon Company, the joint venture responsible for brand management, production, publishing, marketing, and licensing of the Pokémon franchise, has put together the effort to finally launch an official online forum.

According to in Pokémon in an announcement:

"Get connected with fellow Trainers by joining the conversation at the official Pokémon Community Forums!"

"You can stay up to date with the latest Pokémon news, discuss who your favorite Pokémon is, and even help the community at large by submitting bug reports for Pokémon TCG Live or Pokémon UNITE."

"There are currently dedicated forums for the Pokémon TCG, Pokémon TCG Live, and Pokémon UNITE, as well as general forums for all things Pokémon—so if you have a burning question or just want to meet like-minded Trainers, it’s the perfect place to start your journey."

While the forum is where players and trainers can help each other other out, the launch of the forum is quickly met with troll issues.

According to the forum's official rules and guidelines, the forum is meant to encourage users to contribute in a "positive way," and because of that, it also doesn't approve of "foul language or inappropriate themes."

There are also mentions about how staff reserves the right to take disciplinary action if individuals are having a negative impact on the community.

But things didn't work out well at first because soon after the forum was launched, the boards are already bombed with spam of various topics.

At this time at least, a Pokemon Trainer Club account is needed to register an account for the Pokémon Community Forums.

It's worth noting that while Pokémon is a franchise meant for children and early teens, apparently, it also caught the attention of people of much older age.
