Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra #EpicUnboxing Broke Guinness World Records

Ones' ability to break record can be considered an achievement. And companies can attempt to break records to boost their marketing campaign and boost sales through recognition.

This time, Samsung announced that it managed to break Guinness World Records for the "Most people unboxing simultaneously - multiple venues" with 1,820 select consumers simultaneously unboxing the Galaxy S22 Ultra on March 5th, 2022.

Documented through the hashtag #EpicUnboxing, the world record was made possible with the help of select consumers from India in 17 different cities, including New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Ludhiana, Patna, Indore among others.

At the event, the select customers who had pre-booked the Galaxy S22 Ultra, got early delivery of the Samsung’s premium smartphone ahead of the market launch.

As a thank you for participating the event, those people also received access to limited edition devices containing Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Buds 2.

The limited edition Galaxy S22 Ultra box also contained a special thank you note from Samsung India.

According the Guinness World Records in a web page, to break its record, attempts should fulfill all the following criteria:

  1. Measurable.
  2. Breakable.
  3. Standardisable.
  4. Verifiable.
  5. Based on one variable.
  6. The best in the world.

"We assess all new record titles against our values of integrity, respect, inclusiveness and passion. As such, we have a number of internal policies that all records must adhere to," the post said.

And here, Samsung's unboxing event checked all the above criteria.

Previous holder of similar attempt, was Xiaomi.

The Chinese phonemaker was the holder since 2019, with a record of 703 people unboxing its products simultaneously. Samsung took the title by almost tripling Xiaomi’s record.

According to Aditya Babbar, Senior Director and Head of Product Marketing at Samsung India:

Swapnil Dangarikar, the Official Adjudicator at Guinness World Records added:

"It is my pleasure to announce that Samsung India Electronics Private Limited has set a new record for the ‘Most people unboxing simultaneously – multiple venues’ with 1820 successful participants."

"This fabulous event was organised across 19 venues and the delighted participants got their phone and became part of a record."

"A never been done before attempt, I congratulate Samsung on becoming Officially Amazing!"

This achievement should help Samsung, at least since the company has received numerous backlash.

Previously, it was revealed that Samsung Galaxy's source code has been stolen by hackers, and that Samsung throttled the performance of Galaxy S22 series.
