A microphone is essentially a device that converts sound into an electrical signal. This way, the signal can be used for various purposes.
The most common uses of microphones, are to amplify the sound to make it louder, and by making it travel longer distance.
Nothing unusual about that piece of device, unless it has been part of the pop culture.
This time, a particular microphone was sold on eBay for almost $100,000.
A staggering amount of money, but for those who care, it may worth every single cent.

This is because the microphone was used by rapper Cardi B during one of her concerts, and that it was also used to hit one of her fans.
The item was sold on the popular auction website by The Wave, the audio company that provided the microphone for Cardi B’s show in Las Vegas.
At that time, Cardi B threw the microphone she had at a fan while performing at Drai’s Beachclub & Nightclub on July 29.
This happened after a woman from the crowd tossed a drink at her.
This angered her, and made her furious enough to hurl the microphone to the audience member.
While the Black woman who threw the drink quickly apologized, the security didn't take the incident lightly.
Because of this, the woman reported the incident as a battery on July 30. While the Las Vegas police investigated the case, in the end, they decided not to pursue charges against Cardi B.
According to Cardi B’s attorneys announced on August 3:
"On behalf of Cardi, we appreciate the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Dept’s diligent and prompt resolution of this matter.”
It was only after this, that Scott Fisher, the owner of the The Wave, recovered the microphone and launched an online auction for it.
In the end, after 122 bids, the eBay auction for the microphone closed with a winning bid of $99,900.
According to Fisher, a 100 percent of the proceeds shall be donated to the Wound Warrior Project and a local Las Vegas charity called Friendship Circle.
What made the microphone so expensive, is because of the virality of the clips of Cardi B unleashing her rage by throwing her microphone that quickly proliferated across the internet. Being part of the pop culture, the microphone became an expensive memorabilia.
Before this, there are far too many instances of performers getting hit by items thrown by the audience, ranging from smartphones, mother's ash, a doll, a disposable camera, tampons, urine, stuffed animals and real animals, panties, food, food containers, and many more.
