A career on the internet is a career people were never expecting to see before the wide availability of social media platforms and streaming platforms.
And SSSniperWolf is one of the handful of social media influencers who managed to push their career to the limit, and became of the one highest-paid YouTube content creators.
SSSniperWolf, whose real name is Alia "Lia" Shelesh, managed to captivate her audience through her many reaction videos.
Through her unique approach in commenting, her way of using her sex appeal and influence as a cosplayer, it only took her 10 years for her to become one of the most recognizable faces on YouTube.
But that's about it, because the higher she goes, the more things are dragging her down.

Lia, born in 1992, is a British-American YouTuber who first took off after uploading Call of Duty Let's Play videos as sexysexysniper.
After registering her "SSSniperWolf" as her YouTube channel in 2013, she rose into prominence, easily surpassing similar channels, and became popular amongst online video gamers.
The name she chose is a reference to 'Sniper Wolf', a highly skilled sharpshooter, diazepam-addict character from the Metal Gear franchise.
After she rose to prominence, Lia shifted the focus of her channel from video games to reaction videos.
In the videos, she would react to other videos posted and uploaded by other fellow YouTubers and TikTok users, and show how feel about it.
At times, she would express her joy and laughter, and sometimes, she would show disgust and others. In, she would either comment or criticize the videos.
This was when Iraqi, Greek, and Turkish descent managed to grew her channel to over 5 million subscribers in a relatively small amount of time.
Because of this, she gained both recognition and accolades.
But what happened next is that, her huge fans and followers turned her into a character that some people may find it unlikeable.
For example, some said that she started despising people, and show revolt to certain things.
So what happened here is that, Lia faced backlash for deliberately belittling others, creating fake accusations, and copyright striking smaller creators who criticized her.

Among others, Lia, with a reported net worth exceeding $16 million, was caught in a lawsuit filed by her lover, Evan Young.
Evan said that Lia breached a contract and conducted financial misdoings in relation to content produced by Red Channel Living Trust, their joint company. He accused her of not paying him for his work. He also said that he had a huge role in SSSniperWolf by curating most of her scripted content, and that he has done that for years.
He also sued her for a rightful share of their business, revealing that most if not all of her career was built on lies, and that she puts his family in danger.
Lia dismissed the claims and the allegations, and called them "vindictive".
In the dismissal, her attorneys claimed that Evan locked Shelesh out of several YouTube channels they managed together, including the main SSSniperWolf channel and her personal channel Little Lia.
Internet users grew concerned about her content and its impact on her young audience.

The climax happened when fellow YouTuber, John Patrick Douglass, better known as jacksfilms, criticized her for creating reaction videos.
He said that Lia is "profiting off the hard work of other creators," while frequently not crediting them properly.
John also said that Lia's reactions were "extremely base-level" and not sufficiently "transformative" to qualify as fair use.
On YouTube, fair use is a complex and nuanced topic that involves legal and ethical issues. It's used as legal doctrine that allows the use of copyrighted material without the permission of the owner, under certain circumstances, and profit from it by allowing ads to show on those videos.
Fair use is based on the idea that the public should be able to freely use portions of copyrighted works for purposes such as commentary, criticism, news reporting, teaching, research, or parody.
But according to John, many of Lia's videos that show others' work cannot be considered fair use.

Then one day, in October 2023, Lia created a video when she was near John's house.
She posted a poll on her Instagram account, asking her followers whether she should visit him. She then showed John's house, using the caption "let's talk like adults."
This infuriated John, who accused Lia of doxing him, and called her actions "creepy, gross, violating."
It has long been a rule of thumb, that sharing someone's location on social media without their consent is alarming and irresponsible.
The incident escalated from a harmless online disagreement to a potentially life-threatening situation, emphasizing the need for online safety and boundaries.
Because things get personal, John asked YouTube to demonetize SSSniperWolf, in which YouTube agreed.
YouTube stated "the behavior on both sides isn't what we want on YT."
In response, Lia said that she "had no idea how to dox," and called Douglass a "creep".
Lia said that John made this a commotion "to pay their bills".
She also called John "obsessed" over the matter and discussed getting a restraining order.
She ends this with, "Should I get a restraining order?"
Well, one of us showed up to the other's house tonight...and it wasn't me...hmmm.... pic.twitter.com/rG8uhWlvhq— jacksfilms (@jacksfilms) October 14, 2023
Confirming SSSniperWolf has received a temporary monetization suspension per Creator Responsibility policies. Off platform actions that put others’ personal safety at risk harm our community & the behavior on both sides isn’t what we want on YT. Hoping everyone helps move this…

After the demonetization, Lia, furled by her ego, uploaded videos to her second channel, SSSniperWolf Top Videos, hoping that things would settle eventually.
But in response to this, YouTube also demonetized her second channel, leaving her with no choice. With both of her main channels banned from showing ads, her main sources of revenue were simply wiped out.
However, the clash between Lia and John is biased, especially towards John, which many considered is the victim in this quarrel.
This is why creators who also criticized YouTube for being unfair towards John.
YouTube seemingly turned a blind eye due to SSSniperWolf's financial success.
And as a result of hearing this clash, people looked back, and tried to make up the thin red line, and concluded this based on various reasons.
For starters, SSSniperWolf once allegedly cancelled a scheduled phone call with a 10-year-old child dying of cancer, ghosting her, and avoided all forms of contacts, while remaining online for others.
Then, some internet sleuths managed to uncover the fact that Lia was arrested twice. Under her real name, Alia Shelesh, it was revealed that the YouTuber was arrested on an armed robbery in 2013, and again in 2016, when she and her boyfriend Evan were charged with disorderly conduct for fighting after their neighbors.
She was put in jail for three days.
Things don't stop there, because Lia also gained gained scrutiny after an old YouTube video of hers resurfaced in which she appeared to act in a sexually explicit way with minors on Omegle.
On the now-defunct platform that allowed users to be paired with random people and start a video call, she asked minors to twerk on in exchange for showing her breasts. In another video, the YouTuber explicitly asked a girl to flash her breasts at the camera, and that on the onscreen chatlog in her video, the girl in question identified herself as being 16 years old.
These actions are considered inappropriate and predatory.
She also had some of her old tweets resurfaced, where she was making transphobic, homophobic, racist, and body-shaming remarks.
In all, Lia was only sentenced to community service and probation, and had her driver’s license was suspended for a period of time.
Due to facing a series of controversies, manipulation, and legal issues, which led to backlash, people began considering the downfall of the famous YouTuber.

But still, after the demonetization, Lia sent her apology to John in the form of a X post.
There, she called her actions "inexcusable," and that she respects YouTube's decision.
It was only following this, that the banned channels were able to be monetized again.
Let me start by saying I'm sorry for my recent actions; it is inexcusable. I'm sorry to Jacksfilm, YouTube, the entire creator community, and my incredible fans for not being a better example for appropriate conflict resolution. Jacksfilm, while we certainly don't see eye to eye…

But again, career on the internet is just like any other careers out there.
As long as issues are addressed, and that the brand regained its traction, SSSniperWolf may continue aiming her crosshair towards videos to react on.
Despite losing support from her audience, she still has many more left.
It's worth noting that Lia met Evan, also known as Sausage on YouTube, at Comic-Con in person. They were married in May 2013, and separated in September 2022. Evan filed for divorce on October 20, 2022.
