Some people can eat a lot. And if not, some people can train themselves to eat a lot. And this is where the term "mukbang" came from.

Mukbang which is a Korean (먹방) portmanteau for "eating" and "broadcast", is usually done through a webcast, with the person eating a variety of food in huge quantity, in one sitting.

The activity can gain lots of viewers because it showcases things beyond the ordinary.

At one time, the activity can even earn huge attention because it can involve certain conspiracy theories, like Kate Yup's case, for example.

While it may originated from South Korea, the activity has gained huge popularity, as mukbangers are now present all over the world.

And this time, a mukbanger from China is banned from an all-you-can-eat restaurant simply because he ate too much.

Known by the name Kang, the man has been banned from visiting a barbeque seafood buffet in Changsha city in China, after the owner claimed that he was eating way too much every time he came in.

Because of this, the restaurant was losing money in each and every reservation he made.

In an interview, the owner said Kang could eat kilograms of food, and he is losing "a few hundred Chinese Yuan" each time Kang visited.

“Even when he drinks soy milk, he can drink 20 or 30 bottles,” the owner said.

“When he eats the pork trotters, he consumes the whole tray of them. And for prawns, usually people use tongs to pick them up, he uses a tray to take them all.”

Realizing this, the owner had no choice but to ban the influencer from visiting his restaurant.

And if possible, he wish that he could stop other people like Kang from visiting and exploiting other all-you-can-eat venues as well.

In response, Kang accused Handadi Seafood BBQ Buffet as being “discriminatory.” against people who can eat a lot of food, and said that it’s not his fault that he can eat a lot in one go.

"I can eat a lot - is that a mistake?" he asked.

Furthermore, he stated that he didn't waste any of the food.

This story here has gone viral on Chinese social media, with more than hundreds of million views on Weibo.

There, users shared their different opinions.

For example, some people felt sorry for the restaurant owner because after all, he couldn't afford losing too much money if he's not going to risk his business. Some others however, said that the owner should not offer an all-you-can-eat option if he couldn't afford it.

The news came short after the Chinese government through the Chinese Ministry of Commerce urged its citizens to stockpile food and essentials.

It is said that the orders were to ensure that citizens have an "adequate supply" of essentials for the winter, and urges them to keep food costs stable.

This sparked panic buying among the public.
