Novak Djokovic is a world-renown tennis player. And as a superstar athlete, it's obvious that people pay a close attention to whatever he is doing.
And that includes what he is drinking.
During his semifinal match at the 2022 Paris Masters, when Novak Djokovic had a match against Greek tennis player Stefanos Tsitsipas, something else than tennis caught the interest of some curious spectators.
At that time, the team of the 21 times Grand Slam champion prepared a drink for him. Nothing unusual, until they seemed to conceal the process of what they were doing, when they realized that they were caught on camera.
Some started claiming, that they were trying to hide the secrets of how to energize the Serbian tennis player.
Others however, thought of something sinister, and suggesting that there might be something illegal going on.

The video that went viral on social media, shows the star’s physiotherapist Ulises Badio mixing a drink while being shielded by Djokovic's team.
After the multiple members of Djokovic's entourage shielded Badio with their bodies as he was doing his thing, a team member then handed a bright yellow bottle containing the drink to a ball girl who then delivered it to the tennis player.
The video was initially posted by an anonymous account, and wasn't gaining that much attention, until the tweet was retweeted by UK-based journalist Damian Reilly.
"Can anyone who knows tennis explain what is going on here, and why it's being done this way? It looks amazingly dodgy," the reporter said.
Leading tennis journalist Ben Rothenberg also considered the incident "bizarre," and called for more transparency about the substances players take.
"I’ve always thought there should be more transparency about the substances players take, particularly during matches, but I’ve also rarely thought anything was likely amiss," he tweeted.
The topic went more viral after Djokovic ended the match against Tsitsipas, by winning it.

Novak Djokovic, a prolific tennis career, is one that has come to be overshadowed by controversy.
At this time, he isn't the first in the world. But his talents throughout his career that spans more than two decades, has long been unmatched by many of his peers.
For example, Djokovic has been ranked the world's number one tennis player for a record total 373 weeks.
Among others, Djokovic also made headlines when he refused to even take a COVID-19 vaccine. Djokovic once said that he would rather miss out on future tennis trophies than be forced to get a COVID-19 vaccine.
He said that missing competitions over his vaccine status is "the price that I'm willing to pay."
But since COVID-19 vaccine restrictions were eased in France, Djokovic was cleared to play at Paris Masters.
And this preparation of his drink during his semifinal at the Paris Masters caused an uproar, and simply adds to the controversy Djokovic is already enduring.
What's more, it's worth noting that earlier this 2022, Djokovic was spotted inhaling something during his match in Wimbledon, and when he was asked about it, Djokovic had joked about it being a "magic potion," saying that "It’s going to come out as one of the supplement, let’s say, lines that I’m doing right now with a drink and a few other things."
"You’ll try it and you’ll let me know how it feels. You might win Wimbledon," he added.
I would very much like to know what was in this bottle. It certainly wasn’t liquid, and he gestured to his coach before inhaling it. Very odd. pic.twitter.com/bBG62BOMFh

Despite many different opinions, the only fact remains that Novak Djokovic never tested positive for any banned substance and therefore, it can be expected that everything done during that mysterious moment was completely legal.
Former tennis professional, Patrick McEnroe, spoke about this in his podcast, when he brought up the positive test of Simona Halep to show how easy it is to to recognize a banned substance.
"As we found out recently with Simona Halep testing positive, these players are getting tested all the time," Patrick McEnroe said.
"So if there was anything illegal in the drinks that they were mixing, which they do for them all the time during matches, it's likely that he would test positive for it."
Novak Djokovic's wife Jelena, also shared her opinion.
She quashed questions about a mysterious drink the tennis player drank, saying that it's not uncommon for such thing to happen during a tennis match.
I don’t see anything dodgy. In fact, I see people trying to be private about their business in a world where everyone feels like they have every right to point camera at you whenever they want.
Apparently, wanting/trying to be private makes you dodgy nowadays.— Jelena Djokovic (@jelenadjokovic) November 8, 2022
"I don’t see anything dodgy," Jelena Djokovic tweeted, in her response to the journalist who made the video viral.

When asked directly why Novak didn't directly address the viral video, Jelena had a strong response.
"He will talk when he is ready to talk. This whole nonsense about making people speak about something they are not ready because OTHERS are unpatient is absurd. Sit a bit in silence. Mind yourself more. Not everything you see is controversial. It could be private. Is that allowed?" Jelena tweeted.
