WWDC 2021, Apple's Second Online-Only Conference Due To 'COVID-19'

Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) event is almost synonymous with software updates and announcements.

In the yearly event, Apple is known to introduce new things to its iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, home security cameras and more.

And in this 2021 event, Apple revealed upgrades to many of its operating systems, most notably iOS 15. Apple also introduced MacOS Monterey, previously known as MacOS 12, along with WatchOS 8 and iPadOS 15.

In the event, Apple also revealed updates to its existing products, such as FaceTime, iMessage and Apple Maps, a number of health features, updates to Siri and AirPods.

There is also an update to iCloud with iCloud Plus service, and more.

"We are committed to being a force for change as we seek to make the world a better place full of opportunity for all of us," said CEO Tim Cook.

WWDC is usually held in the San Jose Convention Center in California.

The first ever WWDC was held in 1983 with the introduction of Apple Basic, but it wasn't until 2002 that Apple started using the conference as a major launchpad for new products.

In this 2021, due to the 'COVID-19' coronavirus pandemic, safety is more of a priority than ever before. This is why the WWDC 2021 is an online-only conference.

This approach is similar to the WWDC in 2020, in which Apple held its first-ever the first online-only WWDC.
